Jafreicy & Clifford's Story

Clifford and Jafreicy first crossed paths on August 25, 2013, the day they both moved into the dorms at the College of Staten Island. Clifford had accompanied one of his roommate’s friends who lived a few floors above. And there, in that bustling dorm lobby, was Jafreicy. As freshmen do, they quickly gathered to chat about their dreams and future plans. Clifford was drawn to Jafreicy’s spirited and fiercely independent nature. He felt a spark and knew he wanted to get to know her better. Jafreicy, on the other hand, was charmed by Clifford’s thoughtfulness, warmth, and engaging conversation.

Their paths truly intertwined a couple of months later, in November 2013, when they found themselves volunteering to clean up after the New York City Marathon. From that moment on, their bond grew quickly. They spent countless hours discussing everything from anti-corporate politics to their favorite books and shows, building a deep and meaningful friendship.

In April 2015, their friendship blossomed into something more. Their first date was at a Chipotle in the Financial District, where they shared a burrito and then enjoyed a stroll through Battery Park. What began as a delightful first date evolved into a beautiful, enduring love that has only grown over the years.

Their journey together has been filled with unwavering support and a shared love for exploring the culinary delights of New York City. They celebrated graduations, entrances into graduate schools, career milestones, and feats of personal growth. They’ve also weathered job changes, family health challenges, graduate school, and even a global pandemic. They became each other's go-to person, navigating life hand in hand. During a very unprecedented few years in the world, the one thing they were consistently sure about was each other.

In December 2022, Clifford led Jafreicy back to the very Chipotle where their journey began. And while he didn’t hide the ring in the burrito, they did share one just like old times. Afterward, they walked to Battery Park’s waterfront, where Clifford got down on one knee, and together, they decided that forever sounded like a wonderful idea.
